The Pacific Northwest has always been a special place to me.
We stopped for 5 days at Whidbey Island Naval Station. It was originally planned for just 3 days, but the beauty of the whole area had us wanting more… immediately. Our spot was perched on a cliff overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca where crimson sunsets seemed like they were painted for just for us. The grounds of the Naval Station were prettier than many state parks with trails through forests, flowers everywhere and a beach with no one on it for miles. TJ and Emily were in heaven! A quick ferry ride to Seattle gave even more entertainment at Pikes Market Place, the Space Needle and the Seattle Great Wheel where I talked them into letting us take TJ up and around! This was also just around the corner from the San Juan Islands where we went for a cruise out to see some orcas! Our last full day was spent relaxing around the camp where the ospreys and bald eagles were doing their own cruising for fish along the coast. Time to move on up the road and become Canucks for a while before making it to Alaska.
